At Better U, we ask this question often — not just to our members, but to ourselves. Because “a better quality of life” means something deeply personal to each of us. It’s more than being pain-free or physically fit — it’s about balance, peace, purpose, and connection.
Here’s what our team had to say when we asked them: What does a better quality of life mean to U?
Finding Balance and Fulfillment
“Love this question. To me, having a better quality of life means feeling balanced and fulfilled in both the big and small parts of my day. It’s not just about what I accomplish, but how I feel doing it. Being able to manage stress, have meaningful connections, stay healthy, and make time for things that genuinely make me happy, whether it’s with friends, family, or my faith. It’s also about growth, continuing to learn and adapt while still finding peace in where I am. Whether it’s through work, wellness, or relationships, it’s that sense of contentment and purpose that defines a better quality of life for me.” — Andrei
The Simple Pillars of Life
“Good health. Happiness. Financial stability. Family.” — Dawn
Peace of Mind and Presence
“For me, having a better quality of life means having peace of mind. Feeling good physically, mentally and emotionally. It is being able to enjoy what I do, being able to spend time with the people I love, and still have the time and energy left for myself. For me, it is about balance . Not being perfect, just being present and happy with where I am while still growing.” — Laura
Connection and Energy
“Having a better quality of life to me is feeling balanced, energized, and connected. Being able to do the things that matter the most without constant limitation or stress. It's when my physical health, emotional well-being and sense of purpose all go in tandem. Feeling good in your body, calm in your mind and connected to what you love.” — Evan
Longevity and Family
“A better quality of life to me at this point in my life is:
Spending time with my family. Able to keep up with my kids. Making sure they are all healthy and active. Finding ways to reduce my stress by working out and prayer life.
This is super important to me now because I have to think about longevity now, when there was a time I didn’t think this. I want to see my kids through all their important life events and when they have kids, I want to be the best grandma ever. Since I lost my dad, me not being here can be a reality. Doing my best to not only stay alive but have the best health.
As a chiropractor, I have to stay pain free so I’m able to help members feel better.
— Dr. Ace
Peace, Balance, and Authenticity
For me, a "better quality of life" isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about peace, balance, and authenticity. Finding what your true self enjoys, and hoping it's not something bad that will hurt others.
I’ve learned that everything happens for a reason, we have to enjoy the little things. That's why I believe in moderation, but not overindulging either.
Exercise for me, isn’t about aesthetics or comparison. It’s about movement, celebrating what my body can do, not punishing it for what it’s not. Taking care of my mental health follows the same mindset: being kind to myself, setting boundaries, and allowing rest when I need it.
In the end, a better quality of life means creating harmony between mind and body , whether that's having a strong faith or something along those lines. And remembering that happiness isn’t found in doing more, but in appreciating what already is. — Tania
Purpose and Action
“To me, what it means to have a better quality of life is to be able to wake up each day with a sense of purpose, the ability to take action, and then the enjoyment of the reward. This can be anywhere from a small, simple goal like putting on a shirt without having any shoulder pain to a long term goal of lifestyle changes to become healthier. Being able to wake up with a sense of purpose and the ability to take action pain free, stress free, or limitation free can lead to a better quality of life to enjoy the reward to its fullest.” — Ken
Alignment and Ownership
“Having a BETTER quality of life means aligning every area of your life with the vision and priorities U have for yourself. It comes from taking time to evaluate what U truly want and need and using those insights to take ownership of your life, rather than simply managing it. When U do this, U create a natural sense of balance that leads to genuine happiness and purpose, instead of just checking off a list of daily tasks.” — Sarah
Intentional Choices
“A better quality of life means being intentional with your actions. Everyone has their own moral code — what’s right or wrong, what makes U a ‘good’ person, and I believe making the right choices for yourself leads to a better quality of life. Every decision, from when to wake up, to how U spend your time or money, sets the foundation for your future. The next question to ask yourself is: do U start now, or keep waiting for ‘later’?” — Steve
Across every answer, one message stands out — a better quality of life isn’t about having more, but being more: more present, more grateful, more aligned.
Whether it’s through movement, mindset, or meaningful relationships, our team believes a better quality of life begins when U take ownership of how U live each day — with purpose, balance, and intention.
What does it mean to U?
“In order to love yourself more, you must embrace the experiences that made you who you are today.”
