Did U know your body is made up about 60% water?
Let’s be honest—I feel like we say this every year, but this summer has been something else. Between the nonstop rain and those random 100-degree heat waves, it’s been hard to keep up. A couple weeks ago, it hit triple digits for like three days straight... then suddenly dropped to 85 with thunderstorms. I was just out here trying to stay hydrated and find a pool to jump into.
And truthfully? Most of us are way better at keeping our phones charged than our bodies hydrated (I’m guilty too). But as the summer heat keeps doing its thing, we’ve got to step up our water game. Hydration isn’t just important—it’s essential.
Let me paint a picture for you...
Last summer, my friend thought it’d be a good idea to run football drills at 1 PM in the middle of July. Like… full sprints and cones and everything. When I tell you I was seeing stars—I mean it. I thought if I made a wish, it might actually come true. My body was screaming for water. No bottle, no shade, just poor life choices.
Since then, I’ve learned my lesson. I’ve got my Owala tumbler and I make sure to hydrate all day long—especially now that I know how much it helps with energy, mood, and recovery.
At Better U, Hydration = Recovery Power
At Better U Family Chiropractic, we talk a lot about what helps U feel, move, and live better—and water always comes up during post-treatment conversations. Staying hydrated doesn’t just help you feel good—it helps your body function at its best, especially when you're recovering from adjustments or treatments.
More Sweat = More Water Needed
When it’s hot, your body works harder to cool down—which means more sweat, and more water loss. If you don’t replace what you're losing, you might feel:
Headaches
Low energy
Dizziness
That sluggish “why-do-I-feel-like-mush” feeling
Water keeps your internal systems running smoothly so you can enjoy the summer instead of crashing halfway through the day.
Stay Sharp & Energized Between Visits
Our members often say how much better they feel after a visit—and hydration plays a big role in keeping those results going outside of Better U. Water helps fight off brain fog, boosts your focus, and gives you natural energy (without that afternoon caffeine crash).
So if you’re dragging? Try this: A cold glass of water A quick walk A visit to Better U
You’ll thank yourself later.
Hydrated Muscles = Happier Adjustments
Hydration isn’t just about how you feel—it directly affects how your muscles and joints function. When you’re hydrated:
Muscles recover faster
Joints move more smoothly
Adjustments and stretch therapy are more effective
That means your treatments go further—and last longer. Win-win.
Your Spine Loves Water Too
One thing we see often? Back discomfort from lifting, desk work, or just day-to-day life. What many don’t know is that your spinal discs need water to stay cushioned and healthy. Staying hydrated supports the work we do at Better U, especially if you’re getting adjusted regularly.
So yeah… your spine is counting on you to sip up!
Quick Hydration Tips from Team Better U
Bring a water bottle to your appointments (forgot it? Don’t worry—we’ve got water for U!)
Add lemon, cucumber, or fruit to your water to make it more fun
Set reminders to drink (aim for about a gallon a day, depending on your body)
Snack on water-rich fruits & veggies—watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges are the summer MVPs
Bottom Line:
Hydration is one of the easiest, most powerful ways to support your body—and it seriously boosts the benefits of your care at Better U. Whether you’re coming in for recovery, relaxation, or realignment, water helps your body stay primed for the best results.
So drink up, stay cool, and keep being the best U this summer
